In this lecture, we have studied the energy level diagrams of triatomics and polyatomics and drawn the MO overlap diagrams for the simpler cases. The sketches of hybrid orbitals which participate and contribute to the distinct directionalities in chemical bonding have been given. |

The unique gometries of a number of common molecules were considered in detail. The role of the coefficients of AOs in hybrids as well as the MOs was elucidated.  molecular orbitals in butadiene and benzene were investigated in some detail and a method to determine the MO energy levels and the MO coefficients was outlined. |
