7.4 Draw a few contours of the bonding MO of H2+ in planes perpendicular to the internuclear axis. Consider three planes
 
a) A plane bisecting the nuclei,
 
b)

A plane containing one of the two nuclei and

 
c)

Any plane other than (a) and (b) above. Compute the values of contours by calculating the distances of any point on the contour from each of the nuclei.

7.6 Why does He2+ have a bound state while He2 does not?
  Why is the binding energy of H2 less than that of H2+ ? Why is the bond length of H2 less than that of H2+ ? Please note the convention: lower value of potential energy implies a stronger bond.
