Module 5 : MODERN PHYSICS
Lecture 23 : Black Body Radiation
Substituting the values of $ h,c$ and $ k$ we get Wien's law

$\displaystyle \lambda_{max} T = 2.9\times 10^{-3}\ \ {\rm mK}$
where $ \lambda_{max}$ is the wavelength at which the radiation intensity is maximum at a temperature $ T$. If $ \lambda_{max}$ is expresses in cm, the relationship is given by

$\displaystyle \lambda_{max} = \frac{0.29}{T}$
