Lecture 4 : Evolutionary Psychology

The brain in this sense, which we know is structured for processing functions, can therefore be called a wet computer. The brain is an organic carbon-based computer as against the silicon-based computer that we use.

The brain has cells known as neurons. The work of these cells is to transmit information. Along with the neurons we have other supporting structures, for instance the neuro-glia or glial cells – using the metaphor of “glue” – which are very important supporting structures. Information from the environment is passed on to brain circuitry and from this we elicit responses to the environment to enable mental processing and generate motion which we called behavior . Within this discourse behavior is understood as motion. To summarize the above, the brain's response to environmental stimuli generates motion which is known as behavior.
