What is hazardous waste?

Hazardous waste is waste that poses substantial or potential threats to public health or the environment.
In the United States, the treatment, storage and disposal of hazardous waste is regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).

Class 1: Explosives

Class 2: Compressed Gases

Class 3: Flammable Liquids

Class 4: Flammable Solids

Class 5: Oxidizers

Class 6: Poisons & Toxics

Class 7: Radioactive materials

Class 8: Corrosives

Class 9: Miscellaneous hazardous materials that don’t fit any other hazard class… (dry ice, for example)
