Module 4 : Culture Industries, Cultural Forms

Lecture 7 : Cyberculture

Postmodernism argues that all grand narratives are false and that instrumental rationality is always related to power and legitimation. It foregrounds mi cro-narratives : every culture or subculture has a narrative and it is only the dominant culture that forwards us the grand narrative because of power and legitimacy.

And there is p aralogy or what we call resistance to established reasoning and the political strategy is the celebration of difference and a non-totalitarian view of the world. Postmodernism therefore ties in with the proliferations of internet narratives. In that sense the internet is of course liberating because potentially everyone finds a voice there and can contribute his or her micro-narrative.
