The philosopher Richard Rorty is an eminent figure in the field of the anti-representationalist school of thought. He refers to two central formulations: culture as conversation and the primacy of language. Rorty's theory is relevant and throws light in support of language as a site and as a constitutive feature of culture. Rorty and other philosophers of the same formulation belong to the school of thought known as anti-representationalism. This simply means that one cannot represent anything faithfully because it is through limits of discourses that we may perceive reality. For instance, there is no god-like vantage point from which to survey the world and language separately in order to establish the relationship between them. Therefore it also follows that one does not have any objective truths. This is also applied to science. Thus we have only justifications where it was initially thought that they were objective truths.
