Effects

• Because of algal bloom, sunlight cannot enter into the depths of the water body which makes plants unable to live Decrease in O₂ levels occurs resulting in the eventual death of living organisms inside

• During this process of death of living organisms inside, more oxygen is consumed during the decomposition process

• Eutrophication not only effects the living organisms inside the water but also degrades the water quality: Water taste and odor degrade because of the toxins like Geosmin , MIB etc., being released during algal bloom
