Self-Assessment Question and Possible Answer

  1. Do meaning and language intertwine with each other? Explain in five sentences.
  2. Ans.: Meaning is invariably associated with language. It is because the bare words and sentences cannot communicate our thoughts. They need 'meaning' to communicate our ideas, desires, passions, etc. to others. Thus, meaning is an indispensable and inseparable aspect of language. In other words, there will be no language without meaning. Thus meaning cannot be dissociated from language.
