By ‘sites' we ask where representation, identity, subjectivity, gender etc. are played out or located. By ‘sites of culture' we ask, where does culture happen? This implies location, that is, if cultural forces inform our everyday lives, where are these located? This entails making a move from structures to contingent sites of power and identity-formation . This has become an increasingly important area of cultural enquiry giving birth to journals like Sites .
