Proof:

Let $U$ be the sphere minus the north pole and $V$ be the sphere minus the south pole. Using the stereo-graphic projections, we see that $U$ and $V$ are simply connected open subsets of $S^n$ and it is easily verified that $U\cap V$ is path connected. The result follows from the previous theorem.
