Here it is important to make a distinction between affection and love. Why all inter-personal relationships require affection (the feeling of being related to the other in relationship) to live in harmony with existence one has to have love for the entire existence (in the same sense in which the Buddha mentioned of the universal love). Love is the feeling of being related to every unit in existence. It is of complete value in human-human relationship. To love is to realize co-existence in existence, and it is a combined expression of kindness, beneficence and compassion.
In today’s world relationship is based on differentiation in terms of something other than I, e.g., color, caste, money, weight, income, class, sex, age, position etc. It is not formed on the basis of I. Hence there are feelings of disrespect, leading to resentments & protests in regard to each one of them, in one context or the other. They have to be replaced by love and trust. This requires a holistic conception of harmony at all levels of existence.
JV claims that nature is already in harmony, in co-existence. Only man is unable to do this which has caused enormous problems for society, nations and the nature. Once a man is educated about his true nature and the real source of happiness and starts working towards the education of others he will again live harmoniously in existence. To be happy is to live in harmony in oneself (Swatantrata), in harmony with others (Swarajya) and with existence.
