Lecture 2 : Space

One of the apt articulations of the cultural aspects of space was given by Michel Foucault (in Barker, Sage Dictionary ) when he argued: “A whole history remains to be written of spaces - which would at the same time be the history of powers – both these terms in the plural – from the great strategies of geopolitics to the little tactics of the habitat . ” The cultural study of space therefore ranges from the use of space by structures of power and authority in the form of global geopolitics to the micro power struggles in habitats.
