It displays a natural springiness/ elasticity that are frequently cited as examples of benefits of springy bending. In manufactured goods, leaf springs (usually strip steel) are frequently employed when bending is required in this manner. The bending qualities often allow it to return to their original shape and position. Many materials enjoy these properties- plants, rubber, metal, and wood. The sapling illustrates some of the nature and purpose of bending within an elastic range, that is, where things can bend and shape back to their original`- position.
