Module 11 : Transition Metal Catalysis

Lecture 33 : Rhodium Catalysts

3.6.5.5 Cyclopropanation and C-H Insertion

Rhodium(II) complexes are highly efficient and versatile catalysts for the extrusion of dinitrogen from diazo compound. Dirhodium(II) carboxylates, especially, Rh2(OAc)2, are extensively used for cyclopropanation and C-H insertion. The nature of ligand plays a crucial role in the selectivity of the products (Scheme 18-19).
