Desalting- Desalting or removal of the small molecule from the protein is important for activity assay and other down stream processes. A gel filtration column is equilibrated with the buffer or water and then the sample for desalting is loaded. After the run the protein and salt are eluted separaetely as peak (Figure 33.3).
