Example 1: Calculate the stiffness and compliance coefficients for transversely isotropic material AS4/3501 Epoxy. The properties are as given below for a fibre volume fraction of 60%.

Solution:


Unit of all compliance coefficients is 1/GPa.

The corresponding stiffness coefficients are calculated by inversion of the compliance matrix.

Unit of all stiffness coefficients is GPa.

Note: Both stiffness and compliance matrices are symmetric.
