Third type of the aberration which blurs the image is known as Astigmatism. It arises for the objects placed far away from the axis of the lens. The cone of the rays arriving at the lens from the object point is not symmetrical as in the case of the point on the axis. In the following, we shall understand the cause of this.

Let a point object O is far from the axis of the lens.
