Sigma Algebra

This necessitates defining a subset of which is closed under these countably infinite set theoretic operations. Such a family of sub sets of is called sigma-algebra and defined below.



          Let  S  be a set. A sigma field F is a subset of the power set with the following properties:
                              

          Thus F is closed under complementation and countable union operations.
