Ceramic Materials: Different Crystal Structures

The figures below shows four most common crystal structure of engineering ceramics. The basic blocks are very much similar to the metallic counterparts having simple cubic, BCC, FCC and HCP structures. However, the ceramic crystals contain additional atoms in the interstitial spaces.
