Discretization:

This is the difference between the exact analytical solution of the partial differential Eq. (3.3) and the exact (round-off free) solution of the corresponding finite-difference equation (for example, Eq.(3.4).

The discretization error for the finite-difference equation is simply the truncation error for the finite-difference equation plus any error introduced by the numerical treatment of the boundary conditions.
