The space $ E^n\sqcup_p\mathbb{R}P^{n-1}$ is homeomorphic to the real projective space $ \mathbb{R}P^n$. Thus $ \mathbb{R}P^n$ is obtained from $ \mathbb{R}P^{n-1}$ by attaching an $ n$-cell.
