Self-Assessment Question and Possible Answer

  1. When does a sentence consider as 'significant' on the view of Russell?
  2. Ans.: On the account of Russell, every sentence is endowed with a grammatical form of having the subject-predicate structure, and if the sentence satisfies this sort of behavior then it is a significant sentence. For example, "The King of France is Wise". In this sentence though the subject part ' the king of France' does not have the referent, yet it is a significant sentence as it satisfies the criterion subject-predicate structure such that it can be proved to be true or false after due analysis of the sentence.
