Self-Assessment Question and Possible Answer

  1. Briefly explain about the differences between 'idea' and 'thought'.

Ans.: In a nutshell, 'ideas' cannot be seen, touched, smelled and tasted. An idea is the impression of an observer which is stored in his/her mind. More precisely, ideas cannot be presented to our sense organs. An idea that someone has belongs to the content of his or her consciousness. Things of the outer world are independent of its bearer. However, ideas need a bearer. Ideas are subjective. Since ideas are subjective, they differ from individual to individual. On the other hand, 'thoughts' are invariant and logically coherent with the propositions. Thoughts are objective, eternal, shareable and transmitted from generation to generation.
