Dominant values in India
In a study of values in the western UP, Dr. Manju Singh found that in the perceptions of people, today everyone is trying to strengthen his economic base. Table 7.1 shows her findings of perceptions of people’s life goals. In general, people want a prosperous life. They also want power and prestige. Family responsibility and moral life are given less importance. Even health is ignored.
