What is needed to spread values?

What method is then required to promote value education? I think a number of things are required for value education (some of which but not all are present in JV):

• Value education should be endorsed by the leading authorities in both state sector and civil society. It is unimaginable how in a situation in which the state has no regard for value education civil society alone can sustain it or how in a situation in which civil society has no concern for value education the state will insist on it. The stress on values has to be placed by both state and people. No one can deny that a major boost to value education has come from its introduction in technical institutes in the country.

• To spread value education further there is a need to create more number of discussion leaders by drawing them from different fields.

• Value education should be part of all forms of vocational and professional training programs. Although as value education JV discourse is part of dissemination of professional ethics in specific professions it should be able to handle problems specific to a particular domain as well as general situation.

• For special groups interested in spread of value education among common people, it may be said that to attract masses, the principles of value education must be applied to different domains of social life – politics, education, family, culture, religion and economy – and show the various practical alternatives consistent with universal morality can be developed in the present conditions.
