Based on self-exploration and natural acceptance, it can be observed that I and body have different functions. In contemporary society man has become unhappy because he has forgotten about this distinction between I and body. He thinks that he can be happy by acquiring more and more of wealth, power and status. The fact is that although wealth is necessary for acquiring food, shelter etc. ones needs for these things is limited and temporary. A man needs to live in harmony in human relationships and existence. Relationships are relationships between I and body of one person with I and body of the other person(s). In harmonious relationships needs of both I and body should be satisfied. In modern society non-physical requirements of relationships too have been commodified in the form of valuable gifts and exchanges. However, the exchanges of costly materials do not make people happy. For happiness, all expectations of both the Is have to be met. They are: trust, respect, affection, care, guidance, reverence, glory, gratitude and love. Of them trust is one of the highest importance. Trust means the assurance and an understanding that the others want my happiness and prosperity just as I want theirs. For Jeevan Vidya (JV) self-exploration and natural acceptance show that everyone always wants to make himself as well as others happy. I want to be happy, and I also want others to be happy. Likewise the others want to be happy, and also want me to be happy.
