Module 9: Postmodernization and emancipation
Lecture 26: Emancipation: Modern and Postmodern

Conclusion

This lecture elucidates the traditional, modern and postmodern notions of emancipation. With advancement of modernization in India representations of emancipation have become very complex. This has created new dilemmas and problems. To be meaningful and to be heard, academicians and theoreticians have to become part of class politics and new social movements and combine experience, theory and advocacy, without losing track of common human destiny. Unless one is part of a movement it has almost become impossible to say anything which is intelligible or meaningful to the parties involved in the dispute and at the same time we cannot forget the fact that the extremism of any kind is not going to promote justice in the long run which can generate solutions acceptable to all.
