Old Town

The Old town was situated close to the CBD and it was the residential area that was vacated by the well-to-do. The dwellings in this area were cramped and haphazard. There was no open space . Every inch was covered with filth.

Toilets were almost non-existent and therefore the open areas were used for the same. There were others who stayed with the workers, namely pigs.

The tanneries let out polluting effluents in the area.
