The modular furniture design or other product designs (plate 2A-C) are flexible in nature that allows one to develop new combination and orientation depending on the available space and environment. The modular design helps to create flexibility like organic substance that may grow and adjust due to the condition around.

Observing nature man has realized there are draw backs as well as advantages of nature’s paradigm. Nature even though has created their solid but fragile defence system through a evolution process; it has quite a few limitations. Following are some of the limitations to evolution as a design process though-

  • Nature cannot easily create ‘back up’ for every change takes places in the course of evolution.
  • In human design process, we may realize at a point that we have reached at a dead-end and could not achieve the goal
  • In such situation we could always fall back to the earlier steps and evaluate the process and propose an alternative solution.
  • Hence, human being can always find an alternative solution or a path to alter the process.
  • While in nature, normal evolutionary process cannot correct so easily.
  • Nature may adjust in the new situation however, which would be a slow process and would require a considerable time.
