Hands can speak universal language crossing the limitation of spoken language. Spoken language has limitation because of its regional and geographical locations whereas by waving hand (plate 4A) one can communicate effectively. ‘Kissing hand’ (plate 4B) indicates respect and affection is an old practice found in many societies. It is a ritual that is quite popular in Western Culture. Putting a finger (plate 4D) in front of lips is understood by everybody. In order to maintain silence within a group or teacher in a classroom indicating silence is a well-recognized symbolic non-verbal mode of communication. Placing hands on another (plate 4E) conveys the feeling of affection, love or assurance. A young person’s hand placed on an older person’s hand shows the sense of gratitude and affection. Two persons without speaking anything can, thus convey their feeling. The application of hands can perform large numbers of meaningful conversation without uttering a single word. There are innumerable examples of body-hand gestures may fall under non-verbal communication categories, however depending on the cultural and societal variations it may have different meanings. Paradigms are closely associated with these gestures.
