In our daily life we communicate with others through various hand gestures. There are hand gestures which reflect typical ethnic/ cultural essence. And there are universal gestures which are widely recognized around the world. Confrontation and arguments (plate 3A) can be recognized irrespective of their spoken language. One is accusing while the other trying to pacify. The pointing finger (accusing) and showing the opened palm (pacify) have distinct meaning. The gesture of hands will clearly indicate the nature of conversation. The same hand may give a note of acceptance/ appreciation (plate 3B) through another combination of fingers. A hand with clinched fingers (plate 3C) in the form of fist shows the sign of solidarity or protests. The sign of love (plate 3D) is expressed with the help of four fingers. In order to give ‘go ahead’ or sign of victory hand shows ‘thumbs up’ (plate 3E), which is quite common and a popular sign around the world. Sometime hand gestures (plate 3F) help us to express certain feelings, in this case chocking.
