The balls’ movement is often constructed by placing them in a channel, so that the movement is organized and controlled. When we require ball to function in certain way, due to its characteristics, and the balls are not controlled or aligned on a surface and through a channel (plate2D), it may start moving freely. File-cabinet drawer (plate 2C), Desk Penholder (2B), bicycle wheel-hub, skateboard (plate 2A), etc, are some of the examples that illustrate the functioning of ball.

The paradigm of ball functioning are available in every sphere of our life. A ball rolls because it has surface without any projection from the surface plane. We begin our life curled into a ball, because we most easily fit in the womb that way. Ball-like products are widely used for sports and ball bearings related products. But also a wide range of products using balls in a socket (‘ball & socket’) are available. Ball joints are used to connect parts where a wide degree of directional freedom is required, such as in desk-penholders. Balls rotating in sockets are also used to dispense liquid in controlled manner (roll-on deodorant, ballpoint pen). Centipede, armadillo, etc. like insects or animal take protection from any fear of attack rolling in the shape of a ball or a disk.
