1.9.6 N-Methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMO)
NMO is a useful and relatively mild oxidizing agent. It is used as a co-oxidant with OSO4 for hydroxylation of alkenes (Scheme 1). In the presence of oxidizing agent such MCPBA catalytic amount of NMO can be used.
