Cryptology is employed to communicate securely, authenticate messages and sign digitally. This four-week course Introduction to Cryptology is designed for both computer science and mathematics students, touching upon the most important ideas and techniques of the present day cryptology. All the pre-requisite topics are revised during the lectures making this course self-contained and accessible to a wider audience. It is hoped that this course will prepare interested students for a more extensive course on Information Security.
Dr.Sugata Gangopadhyay is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. His research interests are in Cryptology and Discrete Mathematics. Dr. Gangopadhyay has taught Cryptography as an elective course at IIT Roorkee for several years to BTech students. He has guided six PhDs in the area of Cryptographic Boolean functions. Dr. Gangopadhyay has published research paper in leading journals such as IEEE Transaction of Information Theory, Discrete Mathematics, Discrete Applied Mathematics, Information Processing Letters etc. He has also been principal investigator of two international projects on Cryptology.
