Course Name: Basic Calculus for Engineers, Scientists and Economists

Course abstract

This course in basic calculus intends to equip the engineering and science with the mathematical tools that they would primarily require for their studies. The emphasis is on understanding the concepts through examples and exercises. There will be no detailed proof of results unless it is very simple.

Prof. Joydeep Dutta

Joydeep Dutta is currently a Professor with the Economics Group in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Kanpur. He was previously a faculty in the Mathematics Department at IIT Kanpur. His major research interest lies in convex and nonsmooth optimization. He enjoys teaching mathematical finance. He had introduced and taught the first ever course in Mathematical Finance at IIT Kanpur.
