Introduction to Geological hazards and environmental impact; Importance of Geological Structures in Civil Engineering; Criteria for site selection of dams and tunnels; Active faults and its related hazard in India; Tsunami: Causes and hazard; Landslides: cause, classification, Land subsidence; Floods: Fluvial Landforms, drainage pattern, river morphology, hydrology and types of floods, and flood hazard; Mapping, monitoring and management of geological hazards.

Prof. Javed N. Malik has finished his Ph. D in 1998 from M. S. University Baroda, Vadodara. Gujarat (Geology), did Post-Doctrate (Japan Society for Promotion of Science) from (1999-2001) Hiroshima University, JAPAN. He Joined IIT Kanpur in 2001.
