Work Done

The internship work involved the extraction of DNA from human pituitary tumour samples obtained from the King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and from the bacterium Escherichia coli using three methods - the kit method using the QIAamp Mini DNA Kit (QIAGEN), the phenol-chloroform method, and the TRIzol method described by Jaipal Panga et al. (2013). The bacteria were also subcultured in LB broth for maintenance. The internship was a very rewarding learning experience as I learnt how to use various state-of-the-art equipment in the Proteomics Lab of IITB, and I also came to an understanding on how to present my work in a manner befitting the professional arena in the lab meetings conducted weekly.
