Module 3 : MAGNETIC FIELD
Lecture 15Biot- Savarts' Law
  Example 11 : Force between two long and parallel wires.

Force due to the first wire at the position of the second wire is given by

\begin{displaymath}\vec B = -\frac{\mu_0I_1}{2\pi d}\hat k\end{displaymath}  where $\hat k$is a unit vecor out of the page. The force experienced by the second wire in this field is

\begin{eqnarray*}  \vec F &=& \int (\vec{I_2}\times\vec B)dl\\  &=& -\frac{\mu_0...  ...t k)\int dl\\  &=& -\frac{\mu_0I_1I_2}{2\pi d}\hat\imath\int dl  \end{eqnarray*}
