Course outline
The primary goal of this course is to study probability theories as a background for application to electrical engineering problems. The course may serve as a prerequisite to a number of courses like
- Principles of Communication
- Digital Communication
- Information theory and Coding
- Statistical Signal Processing
- Digital Image Processing and
- Computer Network
The course materials are organized into 42 lectures and can be broadly divided into four parts:
- Introduction to Probability --- 06 Lectures
- Random variables --- 19 Lectures
- Sequence of RV & Convergence --- 02 Lectures
- Random Process --- 13 Lectures
While giving importance to mathematical details, practical applications will be highlighted with realistic examples. A balance is maintained between the basics and advanced topics considering one-semester duration of the course. |
