The Number of Particles and the Phase as Canonically Conjugate Variables

We first look at the root mean square (rms) fluctuation, $<\delta N^{2}>$ , in the number of particles in the BCS condensate before proceeding to show that the number of particles operator $N$ and the phase $\phi$ are canonically conjugate dynamical variables.
