Summary
Pyroelectric materials are different from the ferroelectric materials in the sense that in the former, the polarization direction cannot be reserved by changing the direction of applied electric field. These materials are of immense use because of their ability to demonstrate surface voltage by subjecting to changing temperature. These have found applications in burglar alarms and in infrared imaging.
