Types of Composite

There are four different types of reinforcement found in composites. These are Particulate Composite, Flake Composite, Short Fibre Composite and Laminated Composite. These are shown in figure below. Of these, the first three composites are of discontinuous type while the last one consists of continuous reinforcements. Some times the continuous reinforcements could be of different forms consisting of bi-directional and woven reinforcements. However, here we have considered simple unidirectional reinforcement in each lamina.
