Domain of Composite

So this brings us to the immediate question - what is composite?

Composite material is described in general by the following characteristics:

. These are natural or artificial mixtures of two or more distinct phase/constituents

. The primary engineering goal of developing composites is to achieve a better balance of properties from the combination of materials

. Mixtures may consist of metals, polymers or ceramics. The figures below show the domain of composites. The interphases are also known as reinforcements.
