Lecture 22:
Introduction to Active Vibration Control: Organization
Traditional Application of AVC
Active Vibration Control can also be used in more traditional applications like control of vibration due to excitation forces like earthquake, wind, unbalanced motors and waves.
In such applications, the control system integrated with a range of actuators like electromagnetic (EM), electro-hydraulic (EH) and pneumatic actuators (EP) are used to provide counteractive actuation forces such that the motion of the structural system could be controlled. The figure below shows a typical controller-actuator system.
Note that EM, EP or EH actuators are more preferred here due to the availability of large actuation forces.
