The shear damping can be enhanced if the shear strain in the viscoelastic layer is amplified. Using this approach, a few special configurations have been suggested. Of these, we have explained one, known as corrugated damping configuration , through the undeformed and deformed states shown in Fig.15.4

Another is the sandwich construction where the original member is divided in two equal halves with a viscoelastic layer inserted between them.
