Transverse Vibrations of Continuous Beams :

A continuous beam has uniform distribution of its mass and stiffness along its length. Transverse vibrations result in bending deformation of beams (both the linear and angular displacements). The Euler-Bernaulli beam theory is considered which assumes a plane cross-section remains plane after bending and remains perpendicular to the neutral axis of the beam before and after bending. Figure 12.1 shows a continuous beam under distributed external force F(x,t) and concentrated force, F0(t).
