We can now obtain an expression for the moment M₁ of F about any axis λ through O, as shown in figure 1.5 .If n is a unit vector in the λ direction, then we can use the dot product expression for the component of a vector to obtain M₀.n, the component of M₀ in the direction of λ. This scaler is the magnitude of the moment M₂ of F about λ.
