Module 3: "Color has Three Properties"
  Lecture 9: "Color Pattern"

Color Pattern

Pattern is repetition of line, form, shape, texture, etc. Since color can create form, shape, texture it may similarly create pattern. Pattern can be symmetric or asymmetric.   In art and design color pattern pays very significant role. Color pattern can be found in nature as well as manmade.

Man-made Hand-block prints (symmetric design)

Human beings have played with symmetric and asymmetric design based on suitability. Human being has never appreciated too rigid and symmetric design, which may not create cerebral exercise. We also tried to create a balance between symmetric and asymmetric design that gives us varieties. Symmetric design makes thing monotonous. Nature has always created balance between symmetry and asymmetry in term color, form, shape, size and texture. Visual perception searches for such varieties.  Nature is rich with such wide range of colors and varieties.
