Introduction

Lecture 2 focuses on the definition and need for value education. The stress was more on the perfectibility of society. In this lecture we look at the issue of values and happiness from the standpoint of the individual. Thus the present lecture focuses on the meanings and paradoxes of individual happiness. It presents various viewpoints on. Needless to say, any attempt to know whether a person is happy or not, or what makes a person happy and satisfied in life, depends on our understanding of the concept of happiness and both experts and lay persons in different cultures differ a lot regarding understandings of happiness.
